experience flight for the first time
Learning to fly an aircraft remains one of the greatest experiences you can have in life. There is a tremendous sense of achievement that comes with mastering all the elements of flight. Would be pilots often know from a young age that flying is something that both interests and excites them, and once they get to experience flight for the first time it forever changes their perspective of the world.
Becoming a pilot is both rewarding and challenging. You will develop new skills that will enhance your critical thinking, self-discipline, and hand eye co-ordination. Whether you want to learn to fly to become a career pilot, for business, or just for fun as a hobby, Dave’s Flying School is the place to realise that lifelong dream of flight.
Daves Flying School is the premier Sydney Flying School, at The Oaks Airport, Sydney, Australia.
We operate from Sydney’s last remaining historic WW2 Airport – at The Oaks (15 minutes drive from Camden or Picton).
The School started out back in the formative Ultralight days as the ‘Thruster Factory Flying School’. Today there are no Thrusters about, but there are more advanced recreational training aircraft available to help people realise their dream of flight.
David Rolfe has been CFI (Chief Flying Instructor) for over 10 years and transformed the school into one of Australia’s premier (and friendliest) flight training schools, principally teaching in the well known Jabiru aircraft as well as a Light Wing.
We cater for all students needs, from the school student to the retiree, male or female, and adjust our training accordingly.
Ultralight Flying is an affordable approach to the start of a long & enjoyable career.
The first 100 hours of Ultralight flying count 1 for 1 towards a GA (General Aviation) Licence, or Commercial Licence
Many “students” from Dave’s Flying School have gone on to bigger & better things. Eg. One student who gained his Ultralight licence at the age of 15, & continued on to obtain his Commercial licence, has recently been flying in Papua with an Indonesian Airline, & is now flying in Bali.
On the other end of the spectrum, we often have Commercial pilots, who, on their days off come & learn to fly an Ultralight for the sheer pleasure of flying, & to enjoy the friendly atmosphere at the Oaks. Their experience ranges from 747 captains, pilots from the military, & regional airline pilots.
